Carrying an alabaster jar of expensive perfume, she knelt behind Him. Her tears fell on His feet. She wiped them with her hair, kissed His feet repeatedly, and poured out her perfume. No speech. No explanation. No attempt to defend her past. Just tears, surrender, gratitude, and worship.

For those of us who love deeply, serve willingly, forgive repeatedly, and want to see the best in people, boundaries can sometimes feel uncomfortable. We don’t want to hurt anyone. We don’t want to appear unkind. And sometimes, as believers, we can mistakenly believe that loving people means continually making room for behavior that is unhealthy, disrespectful, or damaging. But love and boundaries are not enemies.

We often think of peace as the absence of trouble. No conflict. No bad news. No family problems. No uncertainty. We imagine that if everything around us would finally settle down, then perhaps we could have peace. But biblical peace is much deeper than a trouble-free life.
