“God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”— Ephesians 1:5 (NLT)
A Divine Decision of Love
Before time began, before you ever took your first breath, God had already chosen you. He wasn’t guessing or experimenting—He had a plan, and you were at the heart of it. Ephesians 1 reminds us that we are not random or forgotten. We are chosen, adopted, and loved deeply—not by our own merit, but by His grace.
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.”— Ephesians 1:3 (NLT)
Spiritual Blessings in Christ
In just one chapter, Apostle Paul unveils the richness of what we’ve received in Jesus:
We were chosen before the creation of the world (v. 4)
We are adopted into God's family (v. 5)
We are redeemed through His blood and forgiven (v. 7)
We are sealed with the Holy Spirit as a guarantee (v. 13-14)
These blessings are not temporary or dependent on circumstances—they are eternal and spiritual, flowing from the heart of a loving Father.
“The Lord will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.”— Psalm 138:8 (NLT)
A Prayer for Eyes to See
As Apostle Paul closes the chapter, he offers a prayer—not for wealth or ease, but for spiritual wisdom and insight into the heart of God. He longs for believers to know:
The hope of God’s calling
The riches of our inheritance
The immeasurable power available to us who believe
“I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called...”— Ephesians 1:18 (NLT)
It’s a prayer we need today! When doubts arise and the noise of the world grows loud, let His Word remind you: You were always part of the plan!
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”— 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT)
Prayer
Father, thank You for choosing me, not by accident, but with intention and love. Thank You for the spiritual blessings You’ve poured into my life—blessings that cannot be taken away. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, so I may see You clearly. I will walk in the confidence of Your calling and stand firm in the truth that I am loved, redeemed, and secure in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Let this devotion settle in your spirit today. Share it with someone who needs the reminder—you were always part of the plan.
Be blessed!
